Privacy policy

A mock interview involves your voice, your answers and often your CV. This page sets out what we collect, why, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who we are

mangoose.tech is operated by a founder-led team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The company is not yet incorporated. For anything on this page, write to support@mangoose.tech.

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we do not store your password.
• Onboarding answers. The role you are targeting, a job description if you paste one in, and your chosen practice plan.
• Your CV, if you upload one. We use it to make the interview questions relevant to your background. Uploading it is optional.
• Interview audio and video. A live round streams your microphone, and your camera if you turn it on, so the interviewer can respond in real time.
• What you produce during a round. The transcript of what was said, the code you write in the editor, and the diagram you draw on the whiteboard.
• Reports. The assessment generated from the round, and your history of past rounds.
• Basic technical data. Server logs such as IP address, browser type and timestamps, kept for security and debugging.
• Usage and advertising data. Which pages you visit, how you arrived (for example from a search or one of our ads), your device and browser, and actions such as signing up or buying a plan. This is collected with cookies and similar technologies — see Analytics, advertising and cookies.

Why we hold it

• To run the interview and generate your report.
• To show you your past rounds and track progress across them.
• To keep your account secure and to investigate abuse.
• To process payments for paid plans.
• To fix the product when something breaks.
• To understand how people find and use mangoose.tech, and to measure our advertising.

We do not sell your personal data. The only data that reaches advertising services is the usage and advertising data described in the next section.

Analytics, advertising and cookies

We use four services to understand how the site is used and whether our ads work:

• Google Analytics records the pages you visit, how you reached the site, your device and browser, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), and when you sign up or buy a plan.
• Google Ads tells us whether a visit came from one of our ads and when a paid plan is bought, including the amount and the payment reference. Google may use its cookies to show our ads to people who have visited the site.
• LinkedIn Ads tells us whether a visit came from one of our LinkedIn ads, and when you sign up, start a checkout or buy a plan. LinkedIn may use its cookies to show our ads to people who have visited the site.
• PostHog records how the product is used and reports errors so we can fix them. When you are signed in, this is linked to your account (your email, name and plan), and we may record your session to see where the product is confusing. Recordings hide anything you type, the live interview transcript, the code editor and your camera.

Your CV file and your interview audio and video are never sent to these services. Google, LinkedIn and PostHog process this data under their own privacy policies: Google, LinkedIn and PostHog.

You can limit this tracking:

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
• Turn off personalised ads from Google at adssettings.google.com.
• Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Turn off ads based on your visits to other sites in your LinkedIn ad settings.
• Email support@mangoose.tech to have your account's analytics data deleted.

How long we keep it

Account details, transcripts and reports are kept while your account is open, so that your interview history stays available to you. Ask us to delete your account and we remove your personal data and interview content, other than what we are required to retain for tax or legal reasons.

Your choices

• You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
• You can ask us to delete your account and its contents.
• You can use the product without uploading a CV, and without your camera on.
• You can limit analytics and advertising cookies as described above.

Children

mangoose.tech is intended for people preparing for jobs and internships. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will also be sent to the email address on your account.
